You can forgo Holiday and birthday gifts to each other. Also, keep your dates affordable by going to affordable restaurants and events. Try to reduce your budget for clothes and other discretionary spending. A part time or holiday job might also help.

BOTH you and partner need to save for this – not just you. That may mean getting extra jobs, cutting back on luxuries – you know that $5 latte you get every work-day – well it adds up to a whopping $1,250 you could be spending on Barbados. So look for ways to tighten your belt.
And what can you do to earn extra cash? How about typing or dog walking or using your talents to do something for money?
Also, what stuff do you have that you really don’t need? Seriously – what cool things could you put on craigs list or ebay – even an old fashioned yard/bake sale.
One thing NOT to do – is solicit money from friends/family etc. nobody wants to give money so someone else can have a carribbean vacation – especially if they can’t go too. So don’t rub it in by asking for dough. Bad form. Really bad form.

I’m in the same boat. Whenever I get my paycheck, I put money into our savings account before I ever spend any of it. I keep myself on a tight budget, and stick to it. I don’t have a lot of what I call “fun money” to do whatever I want with, but it feels good to know that when next year comes, we will be prepared. Also, I’m thinking about getting an extra job during the Christmas season

Eliminate all the unnecessary spending (i.e. fast food if you can pack your lunch; starbucks; etc)
At the end of every day I dump my change into a jar – in 3 years when I finish school, I’m going to go to Disneyworld. I hope to pay my airfare by spare change…
Ask for cash instead of gifts for birthdays, christmas, etc and put them into a fund you can’t easily get access to (i.e. a savings account without an ATM card)
Set yourselves up on a strict budget — you’ll appreciate that skill your entire life.

With the holidays coming up, find out if there are any craft fairs in your area and set up a baked goods table. Hit a dollar store for ingredients or cake mixes and sell cookies, cupcakes and other baked goods. Or make up cookie jars with all the dry ingredients layered in them and the recipe and directions printed on an attached card.

what a waste of money – how many people do you expect to have enough money for airfare and several nights hotel for a wedding – don;t expect many people to show up -a honeymoon in Barbados in one thing, but teh wedding?? Isn;t that prime Hurrican season down there?

Get two jobs if you have to.
You could also rummage through your closet and house to find anything that you haven’t used in a long time and sell it on ebay.

Plan a budget and stick to it. Reduce your spending now (i.e. reduce nights out to eat, unnecessary shopping etc. etc.), possible get a second part time job on the weekends. Have a garage sale. Lots’s of things you can do.
